Cross Country Quilts

As part of our ongoing study of Oceans and Islands this year, we are currently in Hawaii...strategically planned so that we can have a luau for our end of the year party!
I found these beautiful Hawaiian snowflake quilts  (  and knew I wanted the kids to try them.  And even though West Virginia isn't technically an island, I can do a lot of compare and contrast with the 2 states.  So, we also made some simple 9 patch kind of "mountain" quilts.  Hence, the cross country reference...Hawaii to West Virginia.   Have a look :

Not bad, huh?

Have a great weekend.

  1. Not bad at all!! I find myself at a loss for new things to say - just the same old praise: you're so clever and gifted and brilliant, blah, blah, blah - I know you get tired of hearing it. Just the same old stuff about kids being influenced forever and their lives deeply enriched. Yeah. Wish I could come up with something new -

  2. It doesn't even have to be that much said...just knowing you saw and believed is enough!
I'll let you know if it becomes tiresome. Yeah, right!

  3. Wow! Those are beautiful! Lydia was telling me about them. What a great idea!

  4. You will get yours soon...I can't part with them right away. :-)
